School Council
Our school councillors will meet every two weeks in school. They take the thoughts and suggestions of other children to a meeting and make decisions on behalf of all pupils at Dean School. This year, we have created a 'Worries and Suggestions' box, which will be located in the school foyer. This enables us as a school to make sure that the children's voices are heard.
To be elected, candidates had to present a speech to their year group, and a vote was carried out fairly.
What we have achieved so far:
- As well as creating a new 'Worries and Suggestions' box, the school council have been responsible for selecting rewards that celebrate the whole school collectively earning a certain amount of dojos.
- In the absence of the projector, the council suggested using the After School Club's large television screen for Morning Move it.
- Each school councillor has been thinking about and researching a charity which they feel Dean school, as a community, could support. We aim to hold events in school that will benefit two charities, one more local to Cumbria and one further afield. This way, Dean school is trying to help those less fortunate who are closer to home, whilst not forgetting those who are much less fortunate in deprived countries around the world.
